Embalming Theatre Review: As usual from this pretty prolific
swiss band, you can expect quality grinding death metal, very straightforward,
heavy and with a definitely old school feel. Assertive and relatively
intelligible roaring growls, nice and thick guitar sound and some extremely
proficient, tight and fast drumming... While listening to this, it really
stroke me how much this band sounds like Dead Infection from their "Start
Human Slaughter" period! Add to this a smoking "Fear of Napalm"
Terrorizer cover and that's it for Embalming Theatre excellent side...
As always, lyrics are in the same reality-based dark humored horror vein...
Torture Incident Review: The other band sharing this split comes from
Malaysia... This is pretty much in the same style, with 10 well-rounded
tracks of raging low-tuned Grind/Death... Guitars are tuned in a slightly
dissonant manner but the band delivers some pretty nice, competent riffage
with the helpings of furiously pounding drumming and animalistic growling
(which almost sound pitch-shifted although these vocals could as well
be natural, I couldn't really tell..), this band has a nice aggressive
thing going but at the same time their sound is quite warm and fuzzy,
I like it! Overall, a pretty cool split release!

I thought they were Malaysian?!!! The band they "split"
this with are from Malaysia, and so are the record label. I bought this
in Bangkok at a death metal festival, and so naturally presumed they were
from Asia (they weren't on the bill obviously!)
Any way, its not important where they are from.
The music is pretty damn good.
Rough riffs, reminding me of Carcass and Blood Duster, fill the album
nicely, with audiable but deep vocals. The lyrics deal (humourously) with
real life events, all of which are to do with murder, murder and rape,
murder and cannibalism, murder and ... you get the idea.
Production is slightly lacking throughout the album,
and I imagine the budget was quite tight, but what they have managed to
achieve is pretty good, and only the real cry babies and geeky tekkies
out there will moan about the sound.
A particular fave track of mine is track 2: "Buried
Alive: Undead in the Morgue."
It has an infectous groove riff and a real "metal" feel to the
whole thing. The breakdown, and subsequent re-starting of the song half
way though is near genius. So simple, yet so catchy and effective. There
is also a pretty raw cover of Terrorizer's "Fear of Napalm",
which is not all that bad an effort (although Vader's version blows it
out of the water...as you'd expect). If you like
your metal grinding, groovey and downright nasty, this is the split album
for you. (Dumdum)

EMBALMING THEATRE / TORTURE INCIDENT – “Split
organ” split CD: I wrote a couple of reviews about EMBALMING THEATRE
– http://www.embalmingtheatre.ch – recently and on their fresh
split CD, these Swizz noise terrorists still show no mercy cuz EMBALMING
THEATRE stand for nothing but blast beat driven, extra brutal grindcore
with sick, low growling, guttural vokills. As usual, the lyrics concentrate
on the bitter reality a.k.a. the wickedness of the human species –
a bonus in my book. Trust me, these 8 bombardments along with the TERRORIZER
cover of “Fear of napalm” (huh? Not “Dead shall rise”?
Kewl!) will knock you out within a blink of an eye! With no less than
11 raids, TORTURE INCIDENT – http://www.geocities.com/torture_incident
– take no prisoners as they overrun you with a firestorm of murderously
fast, bestial goregrind – ‘nuff said! Grind freaks should
count their coins!!
