Why call yourself 'embalming theatre', and not 'embalming opera'? Why the theatre? Do you love going to theatres, movies, shows, ...? If so, what's your favourite movie?
Actually, I don't know of singing corpses! And I guess, more people than just I would be surprised if this would happen one day… Also, I'm not sure about singing pathologists (maybe they're humming or whistling, but real singing? I doubt it). But students in England call the embalming rooms that way (Embalming theatre).
Speaking about corpses - yeah, I like Zombie-Movies (especially the Romero-flicks), also the films of Dario Argento (Phenomena and Opera the most - and here we go again with operas; you caught me on that one). I haven't been to any theatres or movies lately because of lack of interest. Ok, there are some interesting films right now (like Final Destination 2) I'd like to check out, but I'll see.

Does Embalming Theatre play often on stages? If so, how are these sets? Lots of violence with on the crowd side?
We didn't have to many gigs up to now, it's about three, and one coming this may. It's always great, the people seem to like the brutality of our sound - but I never witnessed some beating up or other violent shit down in the audience up to now.

I was searching for a picture of the band, but all i found were weird pictures from oldies or corpses. Don't you want to be recognized for possible groupies? Or is there another reason? Something like Brujeria, they also never showed any pictures of themselves, but in a way i think they do it just for commercial sake, to create a certain atmosphere maybe...
Well… you know… every one of us is sooo damn ugly, you could scare children under their blankets and grandmothers to death. Even some mirrors break at times. To be honest… we first thought about starting something like these boygroups, so we could earn lots of money to pay for facial operations. But to make this music AND be successful, you should already have good looks. So we decided to make something more underground. It will take more time till we get our chances, but right now… The truth is just too ugly to be told or shown.

I listened to the songs on your site. The old ones sound more then ok to me, but the new one seems to be slightly different. Not to brag or anything, but the sound is much more mature and slamming. Is this the way the band will play in the future? Heading for a new approach?
Yeah, of course we try to improve our style - getting better, faster and more brutal. When we first sat together to arrange songs for E. T., I guess, none of us really knew what we wanted - the idea was just to play short, fast and furious songs. The first session was just an experience we tried to use as a basement during the making of the second session. And, yeah, I guess, there is some progression in it. Really.

The artwork on the Embalming Theatre - Unholy Grave split ep is very nice. Reminds me of Giger actually. Do you know the guys from Darken Art yourself? Did you have anything to say for the design, or was it all up to the artist him/herself?
Actually, Marco from Darken Art is doing the singing and lyrics for us. So we all know him. We don't much intervene with his artwork, because his ideas are good, and of course, based on the lyrics and the ideas behind them. He, of course, is influenced by Giger, who is a famous painter from the same country and his paintings reach an impressing darkness and morbidity. I guess, this just as well fits our style.

I have this feeling you're really into Horror-movies? Right? Which ones are the top-listed-favourites?
Definitily Phenomena and Opera. Also Hellraiser II, Dagon, Rabid Grannies, the three Romero Zombie-Movies and Fulcis The Beyond.

Are there any movies you saw that really caught your attention? Don't have to be horror or b-movies at all....
Feivel the mousewanderer is great! Uhm… ok, may sound weird, but I really like this movie. Just the first part, of course. Angel Heart. And, just recently seen, and I took this as a disturbing masterpiece: Soul Survivors.

The vinyl of this version (ET / UG) is baby-blue. Who's choise was that? You like baby-blue? Do you have any kids yourself? Maybe want some in the future?
That was the label's choice. I like the idea of coloured vinyl, no matter what colour it has. I don't have any children, but I wouldn't deny the possibility that there could be some kiddies in E.T.-Shirts and Caps wearing my grin in future.

Not much known bands in Swiss scene i guess. Do you know Nostromo? If so, do you like their music? Ever seen them live?
No, I never heard of them. There are a few around here, mostly as unknown, I guess, even if some of them have a CD or something alike out.

You like cheese? Normal cheese or the cheese you find between your toes after a day-walk?
Of course I like cheese! There is this dish called fondue, where you put cheese in a pan and make it hot and melting, then put little pieces of bread on forkes and dip them into the warm cheese. But beware! This is no fast food.
The cheese from my feet shall remain in my socks. (Ok, sometimes it doesn't, but I won't be arguing about this right here!)

Being involved in the underground means a lot of contacts and friends all over the world. Which country or person in particular really got an impact on you?
Well, I don't have that much contacts as I had in more enthusiastic, younger days. But the countries I definitely liked getting letters from were England and Sweden. Yep.

You like gigs? Prefer the passive role (going to see them), or the active role (playing them yourself)?
Definitely the active role! Everytime we didn't have a gig ourselves for a longer period, and I'm going to a show, I really always think: Damn - wouldn't it be good to stand on stage right now? I'm not much of a gig-goer, anyway. Like to stick to myself, most of the time.

That's it i'm afraid, if there's more you want to say, maybe even ask me (but i strongly doubt that), or just some self-promotion, go ahead! Thanx for the effort!!
Yeah, thank you for the interview, don't take anything too serious (life's still too short for that), and thanks to the readers who endured my crap until this point - watch out for the CD on Razorback Rec.
Ow, and maybe two questions I 'd like to be asked by the next interviewer:
1. If you could buy the front side of the moon, would you buy it and what would you do with it?
2. If you could play a role in a movie (like Cannibal Corpse in Ace Ventura), with what director would it be?
Well, maybe, but just maybe, you will read the answer in one of our next interviews!
