Grotesque back to Interviews

1.- Tell Me about clandestine activities with Embalming Theatre
Well, since we live in a world full of mountains, cows, cheese and booze made of pears and apples, herbs, cherries and plums, there's not much to activities anyway, at least clandestine. Ok, nobody speaks of it, of course, when you get drunk during a fondue feast on top of a mountain and then come to mistake the bent over girl with the really big butt for the girlfriend of yours, when it's actually a cow chewing calmly its share of grass when suddenly attacked and penetrated from behind. Oh yes, that's where the saying comes from: caught with the trousers around your ankles. So always take a good look at what you're trying to get into your bed (at least if you intend to brag about it).

2.- The new material release on Razorback Records is more raw or romantic slowly, or lovely
I have to warn the people who think we won't go any experimental ways - ok, we didn't TRY to up to now - actually we went to do some new songs, and they just came out as the stuff before. So much about trying out something new. But yeah, we still try to mix the best parts of some styles, just to get the right recipe for being fast and brutal and groovy at the same time. At least, there will be a little difference in the new recordings - since it worked out listenable on the gigs, the bassist will do some backing vocals on the new songs.

3.-Do you think Grind Gore Sado Porno Necro ..bla bla bla bla etc... is getting as trendy as most other metal styles?
I thought that WAS trendy… erm… not? Damn… guess I oughta bring back the Latex costumes…

4.- You think film a promotional video clip or any other promotional material?
Yeah, we have some live material, filmed at 2 gigs, where we played. But the man who should be cutting it has had some problems at work, so I can't tell you when or if it will be finished - this video was thought to be on a video compilation, but I'm not sure if it really will happen. I still have my hopes we'll do something in this direction soon.

5.-In the Embalming Theatre Cd-r appears a line-up very very latin american before chinese etc. a lot variety of line ups..... wow this is a big problem???
Well, you know… may be I should tell you this… (bends over and whispers the following) …you know this movie, erm, the Exorcist? Ok… we're all demons, evil spirit entities - so, every time we plan to record something, we take possession of human flesh and… erm… yes. So comes… uhm… what about taking a walk and study some trees and watch some birds singing and doing whatever birds do?

6.-how is the ideology of the E. T.?
Ideology? Uhm… you mean, ideology like in: The world is crap? Or: Metal rules? Hem… I don't know… is an ideology necessary? I mean… there are thousands of possibilities out there, and so are worlds. You know, like in the life of a spider. Or the "to be or not to be" of the fly that does its circles in the air right in the front of the spider's web. Or something far more essential, like being a drop of water downstream the river. Or the fish that swims against it.

7.-Do you like BDSM, practice any particular Technique?? How is your favorite hobby
My favourite hobby is saying no to questions about my affection to Sado Maso Sex - but I still wonder any time I'm asked, WHY the hell I'm asked! We do have this one hobby in particular, at least about four of us, and that's doing reading circles like old men, means, changing impressions about books - you know, in private, we're quite boring people. We don't have Satanic messes, we don't rape girls, we don't go out at night to kill people, slash them open from waist to throat, tear open the gash and finger inside with blood-flecked hands, pull out the intestines and the organs, carving out the heart to take a good juicy bite out of i… uhm… 'xcuse me… I got carried away. The night is wonderful, ain't it?

8.-What is your own definition of Embalming Theatre's sound?
Hum… since we are all listening to a lot of bands, I guess one can say that it consists of more than one element. I (the bass player) try to bring the strongest parts of styles like Death Metal (brutality), Hardcore (groove, catchy riffs) and Grindcore (speed). I always liked those bands from my past, like E.N.T., Doom, S.O.B., Heresy, Cryptic Slaughter, G-Anx, Filthy Christians (as their former name:) Protes Bengt, well, there're much more, I just can't name them all. But that is what are my most intense influences by working in Embalming Theatre.

9.-Do you like porno videos?? whats your favorite movie?
Depends - I rather think that pornos are too stupid. I don't remember any good one from the few I've seen. If I'm to choose between a porno and a horror movie, it would be the horror movie by a fat chance. My favorites in this genre: Opera and Phenomena by Argento, Romero's Dawn of the dead, Hellraiser II and Rabid grannies.

10.-Are you Ready for participate in a zoo-porno movie?
You mean like me playing the part of the monkey or the donkey? YEEEESSSS!!! (jumps up and down permanently screaming:) MONKEY-DONKEY, MONKEY-DONKEY!!!

11.-What do you think of:
a- Osama Bin Laden
Nothing

b- Bush
Even less

c- Hussein
See answer a)

d- Carcass
Cult classic - Symphonies of sickness rules

e- Metallica
Erm… this isn't really necessary? I mean… to answer?

f- John Holmes
Who the heck is J. Holmes? Ah, I see - I guess you mean the porn star and not the poet - never saw a movie of him or did even know of him until you mentioned him and I went for looking on the web - but, even since he seems to have "done" it to more than ten thousands women, he still doesn't become any more interesting to me. I guess in this case I'd prefer to know more about the work of the poet - this comes closer to my thinking of "art".

12.-Which bands are your favourites? Do you have expectations opposite to your favourite bands?
Ouch - I could fill half a book by counting down all the bands that I like - but, to name some of my king faves: G-Anx, E.N.T., Monstrosity, At The Gates, Anathema - you can see by just the mention of those five that I'm not only into Grindcore, but also listening to Hardcore, Death Metal, Gothic Metal, I even enjoy Punk sometimes - and movie soundtracks (with classical elements)

13.- In which tribute you like participate, maybe Abba, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Rhapsody?
Uh, well, you name it - we will be on a tribute to the Swiss antic grinders Fear Of God, and that's awfully cool, for I know two of the original line-up personally, and one of our guitarists is in contact with the singer. But what I would enjoy would be to get on a tribute to the sixties or eighties - so to speak, with covers of the Beatles or Herman's Hermit, or something like Alphaville or Nik Kershaw - THAT would kick ASS!!!

14.-That's all I could come up with! Can add extra words if you want.......
Well, remember that life's like a party - if you let yourself down to much, you'll have a hangover all next day long. So don't take this too serious! Life's too short to think straight - enjoy and live your craziness out! More infos on our homepage www.embalmingtheatre.ch
