Several Bleed Records back to Interviews

1) Hi !! Can you give us some words about your band ? short biography / discography...
Almost ten years passed from the day on I first met Dave - this was on a gig of Azrael, and we then began to trade tapes. Soon, the idea of doing a Grindcore-Band took forms. This was, when Maggots was born, somewhere in 1994, if I remember right. Well, the band did last only up to the end of 1995, because the drummer left the band. So we went on with other projects, until in 1999, were we got to lust for new blood, uhm, means, we wanted to do something like Maggots again. So we went to create some short, fast-paced songs and recorded them in April 2000. Since we thought the material was ok and the people seemed to like it, we decided to do even more songs (including the cover-versions and the about 25 new songs excluded this counts up to a total of 40 Songs: 15 songs during the first session, and 25 songs the second). Most of the songs from the first session are now released, and some of the second are on the Terrorism/Embalming Theatre Split 7". Here the released 7"es in order of release:
Agathocles/Embalming Theatre - Split 7"
Final Exit/Embalming Theatre - Split 7"
Unholy Grave/Embalming Theatre - Split 7"
Terrorism/Embalming Theatre - Split 7"

2) what are the band projects ( releases / gigs ) ?
For the releases, you'll find more information on our homepage - I'll just give you the soon coming up stuff:
Split-7" w/h Maggot Shoes
Split-7" w/h Sewn Shut
Split-7" w/h Birdflesh
Split-7" w/h Jazz Intrusion
We will also be on two 7" Compilations from Nuclear BBQ Rec. and Morbid Reality Rec.
There are (so far) no gigs planned in foreign countries, but there will be one on Mai, 10th in Switzerland. And of course we hope there will be possibilities to play on stage in other countries coming.

3) 3 words to describe your band ?
Fast. Groovy. Weird.

4) Can you explain your band name ?
According to our vocalist (blame him if I tell you some bollocks here! Hehehe) it is a kind of "nickname" (given by british students) for the place where they embalm bodies. Since we all like gory stuff, this name somehow seemed to fit. Well, actually, we first wanted the to name ourselves Anthropophagus, basing it on the film by Joe D'Amato. Unfortunately, there was/is an Italian band using the same name, so we had to find something other. But, compared to the lyrics, I think Embalming Theatre comes closer than anything else.

5) what about live gigs ? do you think that it's the best part of a band life ?
Well, the best part of a band's life is earning money with the music you play - so you can concentrate mainly on it. But yes, it IS a great feeling standing on stage, play your stuff and watch the people liking it! After all, I hope that's what they do - we're also thinking about little shows on stage, but don't practice them every time. Maybe, if we're getting a bit more famous, we'll sort something out. I guess, giving the audience a good show is an important detail of every band's gig. You don't give the people the feeling that you're convinced by your own music, if you just stand there and play your songs like mummies or statues.

6) what is the best thing that happened with your band ? and... the worst thing ?
Well, definitely the best thing is the CD coming out this summer on Razorback. Also, a very great experience was our first gig at the Mountains of Death-Open-air Festival. The worst thing is the loss of our practice room. We're still looking out for a new room, but we can rehearse at our drummers location.

7) what do you think about undeground movement ?
Hm, I guess, I myself lost a bit of the contact to it, due to lack of time and interest and the longing for a little seclusion - but I still think it's a great idea, giving people chances to spread their music on a much wider level than just local. Also, you get the chances to contact some of your idols, and I guess, that's very important to build a musicians (self-)consciousness.

8) what is your "dream team" if you have the power to choose your band membe=s... ? dead or alive !!
I'm already playing with the dream team! We always (well, almost always) have a lot of fun together, and that's what really counts for me. Ok, I guess, sometimes there could be a bit more enthusiasm (with all the members - myself included), but I wouldn't change any of them against someone else.

9) what are your 5 favorite bands / album ? ( not only metal if you want )
Difficult question, because, of course, there are a lot more than just five. But I'll try:
G-Anx
At The Gates
Anathema
Assück
Soilwork

10) last words are for you !! thanx for your time !!
Well, thank you for the interview! I guess, I don't have any last requests!
